I’m always super excited when these things pop up in my notifications and, admittedly, it sometimes takes me a while to get to them. I really enjoy answering the questions and I love the idea of it all. I’d like to take a moment to thank Nomadic Worlds for nominating me. It means a lot and you’ve got a wonderful blog that everyone should check out if they haven’t already!
- Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
- Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
- Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions. (As I’ve been tagged in this several times, I’m just going to be answering the questions this time around, since I don’t want them to go unanswered!)
- List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or your blog.
1. What’s your favorite thing about reading?
You know, I think out of everything it’s getting to know the characters. And this applies most especially to the ones I fall in love with. I think this ultimately is probably why I’ve never been overly fond of non-fiction since there are often no characters at all in those sort of books. At the end of the day, I’m most likely reading books for the wonderful characters in them. Everything else is just a bonus.
2. Are you an eclectic reader or do you stick to one genre?
I read a bunch of different genres, though the majority of them tend to be in the Young Adult category. I branch out from YA occasionally, of course. I rarely read thriller and crime, though, and all romance tends to be YA because I am not reading books for sex scenes. So, I don’t know. I personally think I read a pretty wide variety of books, but it could definitely be wider.
3. How do you motivate yourself to keep your blog up and running?
Honestly? I have no idea. I think part of it just comes from making it a habit. Once it’s something I’m just used to doing, it’s something I think about regularly and that makes it easier to maintain. I feel like the only times it becomes hard are when something disrupts my daily schedule because then it can be easy for regular things to fall to the wayside.
4. Do you plan and schedule your posts or are you a pantser?
Haha, I’ve never heard that term before. I don’t typically plan posts, though I have a weekly schedule that I follow for specific types, so I guess that could be considered planning? Mainly, my posts come as I have time to write them, though occasionally I will schedule the next day’s post if I find that I have time before going to bed. It just depends.
5. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Ah, that would be to freeze time. Can you imagine how much I’d be able to get done if I did that? I could read tons of books, write and schedule a review for every single one of them, and still have time to do some fun stuff before settling down after one day. I always feel like I’m super behind on everything, so stopping time in order to help myself catch up is like…the ultimate dream. It would help so much, because I could take breaks in between and be all caught up and on top of everything in the end anyway.
6. What do you find most challenging about blogging?
That would be responding to comments. I forget all the time. And I’m not good at quick replies. I usually like to leave everything to a specific time and then reply all at once. And I’m like this with everything, even texting. It drives my mother nuts because I’ll ignore texts all day long and then reply to everyone all at once. I just…have an issue with focusing myself on something when I’m in the middle of my day. Maybe I’ll get better at it in the future, but if I’m being honest, I doubt it.
7. What are you most proud of about blogging?
The number of reviews I’ve done this year. I was never really on top of reviews before this year and that was mainly because I just didn’t take blogging all that seriously. Now that I’ve got this blog up and running, I have really good reasons to keep that going and I’m really proud of how much I’ve been able to support authors because of it. I think every book I read deserves a review, at the end of the day, and I want to be able to make good on that.
8. If you could travel back in time, would you do it?
Blah, probably not. It’s just really not as appealing as it sounds? I think, maybe if I were trying to remedy certain small choices I made that could make life simpler or easier, but in the long run, no…I wouldn’t. It just always seems to cause more problems than it helps. And who knows what might happen, really?
9. If you had to chose a title for your autobiography, what would it be?
Hmmm… either something really simple like WIP, or something ridiculously extravagant like The Completely Non-Whimsical World of a Self-Confessed Pessimistic Dreamer in Vellichor and Life’s Other Endeavors. Ironically, I have never once considered this before, but I’m rather fond of that second title idea. Maybe I’ll use it for a book.
10. Do you actively keep up with latest books or do you just read what looks good to you, no matter the year of release?
Oh, goodness. I try to actively keep up with books, but I definitely just read whatever looks good at the moment. I have a TBR list a mile long and I just get to them as I do. I’m constantly adding new releases, though, so there’s that at least? The books I usually read the moment they’re released are the books by authors that I follow in what could almost be considered a religious manner. Other than that, I read what comes to me. Though, lately, I’ve been picking up more new releases than in previous years. That’s 100% a result of being more active on this blog.
11. What are you looking forward to most right now?
Watching Love, Simon hopefully tonight if I can convince my boyfriend to go see it with me. He’s currently being a giant dingo about it, I think because he doesn’t want to go out tonight. But he said it looked like a good movie, so I’m gonna try and make him go. I really wanna see it now, lol. He just wants to see it when he’s got more time…but frankly, I think he’s due for a break from work.
As always, I wish you all a happy reading!
