Friday is legit my favorite day and not for the typical “it’s the end of the work week” reason. I just really love Cover Love Friday and it’s made every Friday just so much fun ever since I started it. I really enjoy looking up cover artists (when I can find them) and gushing about how beautiful a book looks.
Today’s feature is the cover of Second Hand Origin Stories by Lee Blauersouth because it’s just actual perfection. I loved this cover from the moment I saw it and, admittedly, there’s a bit more love that comes from reading the book and knowing exactly who the characters on the front cover are, there’s definitely still a lot to appreciate about this one. First of all, the artwork is phenomenal, grabbing your attention instantaneously. It’s just the perfect amount of dark and light as far as the color scheme goes. And, personally, I love anything with that color green in it.
And then there’s the cleverly placed and worded text, not only of the title, but of the title phrase beneath it. “Who is allowed to be a hero?” It’s kind of a perfect mixture of hope and foreboding and legit sends chills down my spine. The cover is great, the book is great. This is one to treasure, believe me.
What do you think of the cover? Do you like it? Love it? Hate it? Let me know in the comments!
