So, I don’t know what it is about middlegrade books and their covers, but I’ve become increasingly convinced over the years that they just have some of the best ones. They’ve all got such vibrant colors and the artwork is just plain exquisite. I’ve always been really impressed with a lot of them and I find it happening more and more now that I’m older. Plus, some of them are printed on hardback without a dust cover and frankly, those are 100% my favorite kind of book covers.

Today’s featured cover, a day late because saving sucks, is for Peter Nimble and his Fantastic Eyes. Now, ignoring the fact that this book’s premise sounds wonderfully enticing, the cover is absolutely gorgeous. There’s an amazing contrast between the green of the night sky—which I’m in love with because green is my favorite color—the shadowy figure of our wonderful Peter Nimble himself, and the exceedingly eye catching gold of the title.

Everything about this cover is exciting to look at. From the clock tower to the gold smokey chimneys, there’s just always something really cool to see. I say this all the time, but there truly are a lot of books I kind of want on my shelf for their covers alone. Peter Nimble is one of them.

So, what do you think of this cover? Love it? Hate it? Let me know in the comments!

Have a happy reading Saturday, everyone!
