A while back I made a post about a blogger stats survey that a fellow book blogger was doing to determine where everyone saw their blogs in terms of success. It asked questions regarding the amount of traffic received, the number of followers, and more. The purpose was basically to see what was typical and what our expectations were of what a successful blog was.

Of course, it eventually slipped my mind and I completely forgot about the whole project and never actually posted a link to the results that were released on her blog. I think it was amazing that she went and did this survey and I’m excited to see whether she does one again next year for us all to participate in. I have a feeling that my answers might change at this point.

I don’t know if you were one of the ones who took the survey, but it was actually really interesting to see how everyone responded. I can definitely say that it was was a major shock to me. There were only a hundred and three participants in this survey, but it definitely served to show how my picture of what most “successful” book blogs were getting in terms of traffic and follower count wasn’t quite matching.

As it turned out, I had a view of my blog that wasn’t quite accurate in terms of its level of success. And that’s always kind of mind blowing to realize because typically I think we all look at this in a way that puts our success on the low end of things. And we’re all quite a bit more successful than we think we are. And so, the next time I’m feeling bad about my stats, I imagine I’ll think back to this.
