33118268It’s Friday again and time for another wonderful cover to celebrate! This week’s cover is for the novel Song for a Whale by Lynne Kelly. I’m sure you, just as I did, can find a lot of amazing things in the cover here. From the gorgeous array of colors that just immediately grab your attention, to the shadowed girl on the dock, and the whale floating in the ocean abyss below her. And I most especially love the quote at the top, “Be loud about something.

The colors are exceptional. Mixed together with what is clearly meant to be water, the array of green, pink, and yellow are immediately the most eye-catching piece of the entire cover. I love the way they mix in with the water, even encircling several bubbles that are floating up through it. There’s also something really grabbing about the shadowed girl on the dock and the way it is represented just above the water and the title.

Ironically, the whale is the piece that I like least about the cover, though I also think the inclusion is a wonderful one. I’m not sure how the whale comes into play in the story, of course, but the inclusion in the title and therefore on the cover works exceedingly well. I think the text placement and color is pretty exceptional as well.

So, what did you think of this cover? Does it entice you to the book? Do you like it? Hate it? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I LOVE this cover! It looks so pretty and I’m loving the combination of colors! It makes me want to look up this book and see what its all about! I wish they had made the whale more of a focal point than they did though, I agree its not my favorite part though it is pretty as well.
