unnatural disastersI have no idea what could possibly be worse than decades of unchecked climate change, religious extremism, terrorism, and alienation of refugees…but apparently there’s something because that is the focal point of Unnatural Disasters by Jeff Hirsch. I’m hoping that the religious extremism hat Hirsch has focused his book on includes the disastrous dangers of Christianity, because frankly if it decides to paint it in a positive light I will be rather infuriated with and disappointed in this book. I’m looking forward to reading it, though. Not only is there a curious mystery to solve–though I imagine it will be explained fairly soon given the discourse of the summary–but it, hopefully, touches on some rather important and potentially (I mean, most likely) devastating problems.

Initially, I have to admit, I wanted nothing to do with this book. The start of the blurb made it sound like an incredibly dull contemporary YA romance and I was just ten thousand percent against reading it and therefore not going to add it to my TBR. I’ve said it before, of course, but I’m just incredibly picky with the sort of contemporary themed books that I will spend my time reading. As for this one, it’s definitely going onto my TBR.

How about you? Do you think this book is one that will find its way to your TBR shelf? Is it a book you’d rather pass up? Let me know in the comments!
