Though I always meant to get myself one, I’ve been living without a nightstand for almost a year now. After moving across the country, bringing along the nightstand I’d had before simply wasn’t a priority and resultingly I’ve just never gone out and gotten one—partially due to financial issues initially, but also because I’m massively lazy. And so, instead of using a nightstand to hold the books by my bed, they often find homes right there on the floor for a while as I read through them.
The books in this area are usually books I’m in the process of reading or books I’m planning to read in the near future. As I read a whole bunch of books at once, it’s not surprising that there are a few of them there, one of which I actually recently just finished for 24in48!
I also keep both my iPad and my iPad mini there beside my bed as well since they both have many of my reading and writing apps and resultingly are somewhat necessary to have nearby at all times. I usually read on my mini (easier to hold and it’s not as heavy) and write all of my review on my iPad (thanks to the larger screen and therefore larger keyboard, it’s easier to do so on here. Also, my mini isn’t compatible with my Apple Pencil, so there’s that.
And then there’s my list, visible in the picture, which just has the titles and author names of all the books I’ve read so far this year which I cross off periodically as I finish and post reviews for them. It’s been a lifesaver in keeping track of things, really, since I had a tendency to forget about which reviews I still needed to write in the past. This way, I’ve been able to have a much better track record of finishing reviews since I have a more organized way of it.
I’ve been doing really good with the Readathon so far, definitely exceeding my time from the last 24in48. Since I was babysitting my niece last time, I think that’s probably why. Up to 17+ hours now and I’m really excited about the possibility of having read for more than 24 hours total by the end of this. Considering how exhausted I am right now, I do wonder a little if that is a bit ambitious but we’ll see!
If you’re participating, how is your Readathon going? Are you close to the 24 hour mark? What book are you reading right now? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you guys!
