havenfallSara Holland has a new book and its cover is gorgeous! Have you all seen this yet? I’m so excited to be sharing this with you all because I fell in love with this cover the very first second I saw it. Granted, I was never a massive fan of Holland’s first series, but she really managed to improve upon her story with its sequel. I have a hope that her writing ability for this next one will continue to improve.

As for Havenfall‘s cover, doesn’t it remind you a bit of winter? There’s an icy snow feel to the blues and purples, especially as the texture really stands out in the way that ice with a light behind it might. This is probably the most eye-grabbing piece of the whole cover and I am in love with it. The wolves are an added touch at really give you some insight to the theme of the novel as well, intricately drawn into the already complex and delicate design behind and around them.

I adore the text placement as well. I think it was expertly done and the coloring could not be a more brilliant match. I don’t particularly care for the additive text with “Bloomsbury” and stating that Sara Holland is a “NYT best seller” because I think it looks tacky on the cover, but it’s not like that isn’t common.

The keyhole in the center of the ice is really catching. It’s the center focus of the cover, for one, and it’s also the brightest piece of the cover as you can see the light shining through. It’s kind of orange and yellow which breaks away from the darker colors of the rest of the cover, though you’ll notice it gets lighter as it nears the center. And I can’t help wondering what this lock leads to.

What are your thoughts on this cover? What do you like, love, hate? Is there anything you would change if you had the chance? What are your predictions for this novel just based on the cover? Let me know in the comments!
