It’s been an incredibly long week for me and the crazy thing about it all is that it’s only Tuesday. Have you ever had those weeks? I’m already waiting for the moment when I can just sleep all day long because at this point I just feel like I need it. I’ve been getting home every day and literally taking a nap. As you can probably imagine, this has affected the number of books that I’ve been able to read lately.
Amazingly enough, I’ve found a small way to circumvent this exhaustion fed lack of reading. And it is through audiobooks.
So, how exactly does this work?
Well, the truth of the matter is that it’s really difficult to do this with new books. So that People Kill People audiobook by Ellen Hopkins that I got from Audible recently? Yeah, I haven’t been listening to that. But I bought the entire Lunar Chronicles series some time ago and as I consistently reread this series over and over again, I think it’s pretty safe to say that I know it better than just about any other book in the world.
And it has been amazing to come home, lay down for my sort-of nap, and just listen to an audiobook for an hour. Granted, sometimes I do fall asleep and the next time I pull up the book I have to rewind it a bit, but it has honestly been such a mood-lift among the daily grind that has lately been putting me on autopilot in the evenings.
I even got some cleaning done today!
I don’t know how anyone could ever have bad things to say about audiobooks. From listening to them as I fall asleep, to having them in the shower, and to having them brighten the dull nature of chores and cleaning…I really don’t know where I’d be now without them.
