comics will break your heartComics Will Break Your Heart by Faith Erin Hicks (what a name!) sounds like one of those thoroughly cheesy stories that likely has been done time and time again but I can’t help feeling an incredibly strong desire to pick myself up a copy. These, I suppose, are just the sort of novels I’m a little bit of a sucker for. Of course, it’s not the comic bit I’m pulled in by–never really been a huge fan of them–but rather the enemy/hate to love trope. There’s just something about this sort of drama that really grabs me for some reason I can’t quite explain. And for this particular story it looks like there’s bound to be a lot of drama between the two main characters as they navigate their feelings and the emotional connection to their grandparents and the work they did.

For Mirim and her family, one of the most devastating things they have to live with is the fact that her grandfather was taken advantage of and defrauded by his partner some time after they created the incredibly popular comic series of TomorrowMen. And now, with the degree to which her family is struggling to stay afloat financially, when the cute boy who arrives in town turns out to be the grandson of the man who screwed over her grandfather, there’s bound to be some hostility. A genuinely fun sounding novel accompanied by emotional injustice and business facts, this one is definitely going on my TBR.

What are your thoughts on this book? Is it something you think you might be interested in reading? Would you rather pass it up? Let me know what you think in the comments! And, as always, happy reading!
