courting darknessI do not understand how the two main characters for Courting Darkness by Robin Lafevers are connected in even the slightest way. The novel seems like two completely different stories somehow meshed together and, I’ll be honest, I don’t know how much they actually fit. Of course, I’ve not read the book so that may mean I’m missing something by having only read the synopsis, but I find that thus far it looks like the characters don’t have any way of connecting at all. And why is it so important that they meet? Why is it potentially disastrous? I don’t think that there’s really a clear explanation there. And maybe there doesn’t need to be, because at the end of the day I’m definitely left with several questions that I’d be curious to have answered and that alone is something that could trigger a reader to pick up the book.

As far as the death’s daughter bit goes, I find this to be the most intriguing piece of the entire book. I’m not sure how to feel about the fact that there’s something strange in the fact that a family nearly destroyed death’s three daughters. It seems odd that such a thing could occur and I find myself feeling thoroughly curious about how it all intertwines.

Ironically, at the end of the day, I can’t decide if I really want this book on my TBR or not. Some pieces sound interesting while others are just aspects that I feel rather apathetic about. So, that’s where I hope some of you can come in. If you’ve read this book, what did you think of it? Do you think its a good book to have on one’s TBR? If you’ve not read it, are you adding it to your list or passing on it? Let me know in the comments!
