crown of feathersI’m not sure what the connection is between Veronyka and her sister and the two Queens whose unexpected war destroyed the world as everyone knew it, but Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto sounds like a fantastically wonderful book that I would never in a million years suggest that anyone pass up. In a world where the people of the past once rode phoenixes, Veronyka has dreamed of being one just as the ancestors of old. And so, one day she sets out to find the fabled Riders, disguising herself as a boy in order to succeed in her dreams. Now, this alone sounds like an amazing book that I, personally, cannot wait to get my hands on, but the most wonderful piece about it all is that’s not where this story ends. And all one has to do is look to the past to realize what path the novel is going to take.

History is one of those things that can repeat itself on numerous occasions and I get the feeling that this is likely a central theme in Crown of Feathers. Where the two Queens of the past, sisters, had never dreamed of fighting one another somehow they end up beginning a war. And now, many years in the future, Veronyka’s sister arrives with unsettling revelations for her. I can’t really tell what direction this novel is going to take, but I’m really excited to read it.

What are your thoughts on this book? Are you going to add it to your TBR? Will it be a book you pass up? Let me know in the comments! I hope you all are as entranced with this book’s plot as I am.

    1. Oh my gosh, that’s so great to hear! I got a copy in my book box last month and I haven’t read it yet since I have a TBR a mile long, but I’m really excited to!
