I feel like I could potentially enjoy reading Death Prefers Blondes by Caleb Roehrig, but part of me just wants to read something I know I’ll enjoy more. I’m not the sort of person who picks up thrillers very often and I guess I’ve just stumbled across a lot of books lately that talk about some sort of murder that involves fighting against the killer. And I suppose the fact that I’m at the point where I’ve just seen too many isn’t really fair to Death Prefers Blondes since, when I really pause to think about it, I’d definitely much rather read this book than I would prefer to read Spin, one of the murder novels that I added to my TBR just a few days ago. It is for this fact and this fact alone that I’ve decided to give this book a shot and add it to my TBR. I think, otherwise, I’d probably skip it.
The cool thing about Death Prefers Blondes is that it starts of with more of a Catwoman-esque plot via spoiled young rich girl looking for a thrill with all her best guy friends going about committing high crime acts of thievery. And that does genuinely sound pretty fun even if it’s not the sort of thing I read often. Of course, soon miss rich girl’s father is murdered in a horrendous plot by his ‘second-in-command–‘ which I’m assuming is just a silly (perhaps ignorant) way of saying CFO; perhaps a bit of research was needed here because it took me five seconds to google and confirm that as the correct title–who wants to take over the company, he clearly has no use for a spoiled heiress.
A murdered father, a man hellbent on stealing her inheritance, and a band of jewel thieves awaits in Death Prefers Blondes and I’m looking forward to reading it. What do you think? Is this a book you’ll be adding to your TBR? Nah? Let me know in the comments!
