honor boundI am so glad that Honor Bound by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre is a sequel because that synopsis was confusing. There’s clearly a lot to this novel that relies on heavy background knowledge from the first in the series. And I, unfortunately, have not read Honor Among Thieves just yet, though it is currently on my everlastingly long list of books to read. And it is primarily on there because I am rather fond of all things involving space. But, if I’m being honest, it’s one of those books that I’m not one hundred percent sure that I even want to keep on there as I know there are a great many books worth reading and I’d rather spend my time with the ones that I’m thoroughly excited to read rather than the ones that I’m simply vaguely interested in. I’m not sure if this book series could be more than something I have a vague interest in, truthfully, as neither blurbs have really endeared me to either novel.

I won’t get too deeply into what this particular book is about as it is a sequel and I wouldn’t want to spoil anything, which I do think that the synopsis manages to do just a little bit. The basic gist of it all is this idea behind sentient ships that navigate their way through space and recruit very specific, talented people to serve as their crew as they explore the farthest depths and reaches of space. In truth, it sounds pretty amazing even though I’m not sure that I am entirely sold on the novels themselves.

I’m looking forward to reading the first one at some point, but it’s only that which will determine whether this one ends up on my TBR.

What do you think of this book? Is it one you’re dying to read? One you’ve never heard of? Let me know in the comments! It might help me make a decision on this one.

  1. Oooh you read it out of order! I don’t know how you followed the story here 😉 These two books are among my favorites.

  2. I hadn’t heard of this book before, but I’m adding it to my list. Stories with sentient ships are usually favorites of mine.
