Pretty in Punxsutawney by Laurie Boyle Crompton simultaneously sounds like the sort of story that I’d really enjoy but also roll my eyes at a lot. Re-living one’s first day at a new school repeatedly has got to be one of the worst experiences I could ever imagine in general, but I have this horrible feeling that the idea for resolving “the curse” as a requirement to find true love among her new classmates is sure to have me annoyed repeatedly. And, ultimately, I think this story has the potential to be a wonderful commentary on the silliness of believing you need to find “true love” in order to resolve some sort of perceived magical issue if it is handled correctly. However, I have no way of determining such a thing prior to reading and actually finishing the book.
So, this one is definitely on my TBR since I really like the idea, but I definitely have some misgivings about the possibility this story has for being very irritating to me. Regardless, this book definitely has a rather amusing and fun title, so that’s a plus at least.
And how about you? Does this look like a book you’d be interested in? Is it on your TBR? Let me know in the comments!
