The Birds, the Bees, and You, and Me by Olivia Hinebaugh has one of the best titles I’ve ever seen and I’m pretty sure I’m adding it to my TBR based on that alone. I don’t even care what the book is about, I just want to read this one. But, also, in all actuality, I do really think this book is one of the ones that should be a requirement for everyone’s TBR this year. It’s a commentary on the horrors and damage of abstinence-only sex education. And I knew we needed a book like this, I just never realized I needed it this badly.
Ironically, the actual characters aren’t really capturing my attention all that much. The piece about keeping secrets and developing feelings for another character aren’t really the focal point of my interest. Had this story just been about a girl falling for a guy she met in health class, I don’t think I’d care to read it. But the fact that this book tackles the very real problem of horrible sex education in a fictional setting for young adults to read makes this book one that I want this very instant. This commentary has been a long time coming.
What are your thoughts on this book? Do you think you’ll be adding it to your TBR? I’d definitely suggest that you do! As always, happy reading!
