the deceiversThe Deceivers by Kristen Simmons is one of those books that I’m iffy on because I can see myself loving it on the one hand, but I can also see myself bored out of my mind and regretting ever picking it up. I mean, I’ve read a few books about spy-type schools and never been all that impressed with them. And while I do recognize that this book is slightly different, it has that same sort of vibe. At least, as far as I can tell. And, in truth, I have to be incredibly impressed by a book like this to want to read it and I’m just not sure how different this one is? But, I recognize that there’s a possibility that I might be wrong and so this is the sort of book that I would refer to as a very tentative TBR.

The book basically details a story about a school that churns out con artists and when a young girl is offered a scholarship (or recruited to join) it doesn’t take her long to realize what reason the school had for accepting her in the first place. And the story leads into uncovering and punishing corruption, but there’s also a form of corruption within the school, it seems, and so naturally there will be some sort of adventure there. And, of course, there’s a boy who happens to be her target that becomes the romantic interest.

Perhaps you’ll have to read the synopsis to determine if this book is for you. I, myself, am a little bit ‘meh’ about it all. What are your thoughts on this book? Will you be reading it? Will you not? Have you read it already? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments!
