warrior of the wildI’m honestly feeling pretty uncertain about Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller, not because it doesn’t sound amazing. I’m actually quite in love with the idea of a viking inspired tale about a young girl trained to be a warrior who sets out to murder the god oppressing her people. It sounds like one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever heard of. But you see, I’ve had bad luck with Levenseller. The thing is, I know she writes well and that her books are good but I just did not like her Daughter of the Pirate King series. They weren’t bad books by any means and I definitely understand why people enjoyed them, but I just didn’t. I felt so far removed from the characters and apathetic about them–not to mention the fact that I couldn’t stand the romance–that there wasn’t really any chance for me to adore it. And I just worry that this will happen with her newest book as well, which is a shame because at first glance it sounds amazing.

In truth, Warrior of the Wild is on my TBR because you all know that I would never be able to help myself. But I do worry that I won’t enjoy it. I think my biggest hope lies in the wish that, if there is a romance in this book, that it doesn’t go south for me as quickly as the romance in her previous books. I didn’t like the couple, in fact I never once found myself able to like Alosa’s love interest, Riden. In truth, I didn’t even like Alosa all that much. But, hopefully, that won’t happen with this book. I’ve got my fingers crossed.

What do you think about Warrior of the Wild? Is it a book you’re excited to read? Are you not interested? Have you read it? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments! And happy reading, everyone!

  1. I read the arc of this awhile back and completely loved it. It’s nice to have stand-alones sometimes to break up all the series. It moves really fast and has as lot of cool monsters.

Though I should say, I did love Pirate King as well but this romance is nothing like that one. There isn’t as much banter in this.

    1. That’s good to hear. I think I’ll still check it out, since the story does sound fantastic. Idk what it was about Pirate King, but I just couldn’t get on board with the romance.
