It’s that time of the week again where I feature now only two YA releases from the year of 2018 that have found their way onto my TBR. This time I’m focusing on books from August. This time, however, I’ve decided to start including the books that don’t end up my TBR just so it’s a bit more inclusive and not solely tailored to my own interests. As usual, I’ll talk briefly about why I’ve added a book to my TBR, but now I will also talk about why I might have decided not to add one. I hope you enjoy!

never wakeNever Wake by Amy Plum is not the sort of book that I would typically pick up. I don’t always go for the scary sort of novel since they’re not really my style and I don’t always enjoy them. But, in the case of Never Wake, I think I’m going to make an exception. This is largely due to the fact that the first book in the series–Never Wake is the sequel–sounds rather interesting, including science experiments done on unwilling teenage subjects. And I’m just curious to see how it goes, so I’ve decided to add this particular book to my TBR on a bit of a tentative level based on whether or not I enjoy reading he first one. I’m posting the synopsis for this book, but I’d definitely suggest finding the first and reading that before this one. It’s not too spoiler heavy, but there are a couple.

For most people, nightmares always come to an end. But for Cata, Ant, and the others, there may be no escape from theirs. After an experimental treatment meant to cure their insomnia went horribly wrong, the teens were dragged into a shared dreamworld where their most terrifying fears became reality.
The six of them have no way of waking up. And they’re beginning to realize that if they die here, they might actually die in the real world. One of the dreamers is already gone, and anyone could be next. The only thing they know for certain is that they have to work together to survive. But as they learn the truth about one another’s pasts, they soon discover they are trapped with something far worse than their nightmares…

catwoman: soulstealerI’m just going to preface this next one with the simple fact that Catwoman: Soulstealer is not on my TBR. Funnily enough, I have to admit that I’m not entirely sure why Sarah J. Maas is so popular as an author because I’ve never been massively blown away by any of her work. It’s decent, but not enough to make me fall in love. Anyway, the main reason this book is not on my TBR is because I have already read it! So there’s really no reason whatsoever for this to be on my TBR. I also really have no intention of ever rereading the book since I didn’t really like it all that much. In fact, I was actually a little annoyed with the way she portrayed some really important characters in the world of Gotham. Go figure. At the end of the day, it just wasn’t for me…but if you wanna read more into my reasoning, feel free to check out my review. If not, I’ve left the synopsis below for you to read.

When the Bat’s away, the Cat will play. It’s time to see how many lives this cat really has. . . .
Two years after escaping Gotham City’s slums, Selina Kyle returns as the mysterious and wealthy Holly Vanderhees. She quickly discovers that with Batman off on a vital mission, Batwing is left to hold back the tide of notorious criminals. Gotham City is ripe for the taking.
Meanwhile, Luke Fox wants to prove he has what it takes to help people in his role as Batwing. He targets a new thief on the prowl who seems cleverer than most. She has teamed up with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, and together they are wreaking havoc. This Catwoman may be Batwing’s undoing.

And that’s all for today! What are your thoughts on these two books? Do you feel like either of them sound interesting enough to add to your TBR? Let me know in the comments!
